Bingo!

No, seriously, I watched a game of Bingo last night. My kid’s hockey league sponsors a Bingo night, and seeing as how I have nothing else to do, I volunteered to help out.
I had never seen a game of Bingo in person before. It’s fascinating, boring and soul-crushing, all at the same time. I saw one lady, in a sea of blue hairs, middle-aged Hispanic ladies and adults with special needs, hit three different times, winning close to $1,000. Then her husband hit for another $100! I’d never witnessed a collective stink-eye before. It was ugly.
People are friendly, people are rude, people are miserable and people buy Bingo Nuts by the handful. People are old, people are tired, people speak broken English and people love a garden salad at $1.25. And all of these people are all at Bingo night.
